Search Engine Optimisation
To get your site visible on search engines you need to add the appropriate meta data (hidden information) that these engines read. You need to add two elements for this:
Description: the small piece of text that tells the User what your site is about to help them decide if it is what they want before visiting.
Keywords: these are words that you think people will enter into search engines to find your site.
All this can take a while to get right to gain a high ranking, meaning you will appear on the first two or three pages.
There are two parts to using metadata in Joomla, Globally, for the whole site, and locally for each page if you wish.
Your information will not appear instantly in search engines so be patient, it can take weeks.
